My Story
How I became an architect...
Surrounded by creative influences, my mother’s cross-stitch, grandmother’s quilts, crocheting, and an aunt with a passion for life & creativity, I grew up using my hands and imagination to express myself. It was my father, a scientifically-minded pragmatist, an engineer by trade, who explained to me one day the difference between an engineer and an architect:
“An engineer draws a building like this:”
“And an architect draws a building like this:”
Waiting for his daughter to see the logic in the engineers approach, I exclaimed, “That’s it! I want to be an architect.”
Both sides, creative and scientific have had great influences on my work and career. I enjoy working with homeowners to find innovative and beautiful ways to create a home around their lifestyle and budget. I dive deeply into the construction of the home to deliver a house that is healthy, energy, water and resource efficient.
